We have recently developed a science mentorship program that partners with Teachers College Community School, a local-area elementary and middle school, aimed at developing the next-generation of scientists. This mentorship program pairs current Columbia graduate students and postdoctoral students with 7th graders that are interested in STEM fields and prepares them for their NYC regents exam, which determines their high school placement. In addition, mentors are working with their students to prepare projects for the local science fair. Mentors meet with their students for > 1 hour per week through the school year to facilitate these activities.
